Serving in the Church. Saturday, Jan 9 2010

If you have ever attended any sort of christian church for any length of time, you most likely have been asked to “serve” in the church. There are many areas for people to serve.. but … not really. There seems to be 4 major areas that you can serve in; worship (ushering, working the sound board, behind the scenes making sure things go smoothly), welcoming (greeters, bulletin passer outers, refreshment managers etc), set up (those churches who meet in buildings they don’t own and have to set up for all the glitz and glam band shows) and childrens ministries.Ya might even have some missions in there somewhere…

No one job is more important than another, these tasks are all needed to make a traditional service happen. People are needed to run these areas, and they should if that is what they desire.

Many people feel that they would like to serve in some way… some even feel guilty when they don’t “serve” in the way the church is set up. So what should someone do when they don’t have  a desire to serve in those areas? (more…)

Life Church Phoenix campus is the redheaded step child. Tuesday, Sep 1 2009

4 years ago this month, LifeChurch.TV introduced itself to Mesa and Gilbert near Phoenix, Arizona.  My family attended the very first service at Mesquite High School. We loved the energy, we liked the casual dress and we loved Chris Spradlin. We had been looking for a place for our family to have community with other like-minded christians and find a place to grow.It all started out great!

Fleur-de-lis Thursday, Aug 20 2009

A few people have asked me about my selection of blog design. Most of the people who ask already know about the origins of the Fleur-de-lis symbol and are curious about why I chose it. It was a very conscious decision and here is why:

What’s the big deal about Facebook? Thursday, Aug 13 2009

Over a  year and a half ago my friend, Nancy, from college, kept inviting me to join Facebook. I kept thinking I didn’t want to join another web community. Then I came across my friend Andy on another website and he mentioned it, and that there were a lot of friends from college on there… so.. I relented.

How to Set Goals Thursday, Jul 30 2009

I was on a blog talk radio show today and we were talking about goal setting. It’s easy enough to write down a bunch of stuff you want to do but it’s not always easy how to figure out what you want. Lots of people want to set them but they don’t know how to set goals. (more…)

How do I love Thee? Monday, Jul 20 2009

Many times when people talk about love, it may invoke thoughts of romantic love; the light airy feeling one gets when they fall in love. It seems to be the love that we focus on most as we grow up. Often times it seems illusive to people, like they aren’t sure where to find it.

There are all sorts of love and many times people feel unloved especially by those close to them like family. (more…)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Network Marketing Monday, Jul 6 2009

Almost 2  years ago, I decided that I would like to open my options up for earning my own income. I was working part time at my sons school but I could only do 3 years at school. I wanted the option to work from home and be with my kids as they grow up. I started filling out those forms that people send in e-mails “work from home” and I found out that it’s a form letter for people who have network marketing businesses and they purchase a list that has your name on it. There’s a saying, “It’s not What you know, it’s WHO you know.”. That is a true statement. There are so many other elements to networking that sometimes get overlooked. So what is social networking? What is networking for?

Why would anyone go to a Naturopath? Saturday, May 30 2009

I am friends with a lot of very conservative people. Some have even seen natural medicine as being from the devil or bordering on dabbling in witchcraft. I have other friends who have just always trusted MDs because that’s what they grew up with and that’s who they just go to.
